COURSE MAPS

The swim is done in a 50-meter pool and participants with similar swimming ability are set off in groups.

The pool is 1.6 m depth so it is a competitive challenge to beginner level.

The bike is on a closed road around the golf course so there is very little chance of cars and motorbikes.

The run is an out and back on the road around clear water lake

Bike Rental Service provider

WHY HIRE A BIKE FROM SPICEROADS?

SpiceRoads bikes are never just “fit for duty” but a key component of our riders’ tour experience and satisfaction. For tours with bike hire option, renting one of our bikes saves hassle, not to mention precious luggage allowance.

All SpiceRoads tours use well-known makes of mountain, hybrid or road bikes (depending on the tour) with lightweight alloy frames, 24- to 27-speed gearing, v-brakes or disc brakes and Shimano components. Mountain bikes all have front suspension.

We renew bikes in our fleet every two seasons. When in use, our bikes are well-cared for, including full service before each trip and daily cleaning while on tour. SpiceRoads tour support vehicles carry plenty of spares and extra tubes for every emergency.

  • Athletes must keep count of the laps themselves.

BIKE

  • Athletes’ bikes must have working brakes and be safe to race on.
  • HELMETS ARE COMPULSORY. No helmet No race. There is a mandatory helmet check for proper fit at registration. Athletes will not be allowed on the race course until they have properly adjusted their helmet.
  • Athletes mount their bike on the left hand side of the road and must be cautious of bikers already racing on the road when they start.
  • NO DRAFTING.
  • NO EARPHONES on while biking.
  • Athletes must keep to the left of the road when biking, pass on the right, keep far right when passing until they have cleared the drafting zone, and shout “on your right” when passing.
  • Athletes dismount the bike on the left hand side of the road at the bike finish and run their bike into transition.
  • Athletes must keep count of the loops themselves.
  • Tops are compulsory in the bike and run.

RUN

  • At the run start athletes must give way to bikers on the bike course before they cross the road to the start of the run, and keep in the outside lane as bikes will be coming on the inside lane.
  • Athletes will u-turn at each end of the race course until they completed the distance, then they can cross the finish line.
  • Athletes must keep count of the loops themselves.
  • Tops are compulsory in the run.

DRAFTING RULES

All of the Tri Dash races are NON DRAFTING races.

 1. “Drafting” means to remain within the draft zone (of 10 meters) of another athlete, measured from the leading edge of the front wheel and extending towards to the back of the bike.

2. Athletes must ride single file on the far-left side of the bike course road and remain outside of the draft zone, except when passing another athlete.

3. Entering the drafting zone requires overtaking within 30 seconds. A “pass” occurs when the overtaking athlete’s front wheel passes the leading edge of the front wheel of the athlete being overtaken. No overtaking by riding in a close line behind the athlete in front, to reduce the wind resistance and the amount of energy required to pedal.

4. The overtaken athlete must immediately drop back 10 meters before re-overtaking.

5. Side by side riding is not allowed.

6. An athlete may enter the drafting zone without penalty only under the following conditions:

    • If an athlete enters the drafting zone and completes a pass within 30 seconds, without riding in a close line behind the athlete in front.
    • For safety reasons.
    • Entering and exiting an aid station or transition area.
    • An acute turn; and if a race official exempts a section of the course because of narrow lanes, constructions, or for other safety reasons.

Failure to comply with the above drafting rules, will be given the following penalty on the spot.

  1. 1st Yellow card > 1 minute time penalty
  2. 2nd Yellow card > 2 minutes time penalty
  3. 3rd Yellow card or red card > disqualification from the race.
